Eligibility criteria for IPS Exam
Age limit: Check Now -
- For General- Maximum age is 32 years.
- For OBC- Maximum age is 35 years.
- For SC/ST- Maximum age is 37 years.
Physically handicapped- The maximum age is 42 years (for general), 45 years (for OBC)
and 47 years (for SC/ST) respectively
Number of
attempts:
- General- 6 attempts
- OBC- 9 attempts
- SC/ST- unlimited number of attempts
- Physically handicapped- 9 attempts for general and OBC, while unlimited for SC/ST
Eligibility for appearing for
the IPS exam
Age Limit: Contenders age
must have minimum 21 years at the time of filling the Civil
Services,(Preliminary).
Education: Contenders should have qualified degree from recognized
university in any discipline. Applicants who are writing their final degree
exam can also apply for its exam. Candidates should have with professional and
technical qualifications recognized by the Government as equivalent to
professional and technical degrees.
Nationality: For the Indian Administrative Service and
the Indian Police Service: Applicants must be a citizen of India.

Eligibility to meet all the physical and other requirements
Applicants
appearing for the personality test on clearing the civil services mains
exam have to meet certain physical requirements to be eligible for IPS.
Height: Minimum height of 165 cm for men and 150 cm for women.
Minimum height is relaxable to 160 and 145 cm for men and women respectively in
the case of applicants belonging to ST and to races such as Gorkhas,
Garhwalias, Assamese, Kumaonis, Nagaland Tribals, etc.
Chest: Minimum chest girth, fully expanded: 84 cm for men and 79
cm for women. Expansion of 5 cm for both men and women.
Eyesight: A distant vision of 6/2 or 6/ 9 for worse eye and 6/6 or
6/9 vision for good eye. Near vision of J2 for worse eye and J1 for good eye
The physical
standards are essential for IPS, which includes weekly run for 10kms in 60
minutes, rope climbing, horse riding, PT obstacles etc
Ladies must
not be pregnant at the time of medical test.

Required Education: Job

Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in

Upper age-limit for UPSC IAS Exam?
- Upper age limit is also calculated on the date -
- Upper age limit for General category: 32 years.
- Upper age limit for OBC: 35 years.
- Upper age limit for SC/ST: 37 Years.
- Upper age limit for Citizens of Jammu and Kashmir: 37 years.
- Upper age limit for Defense Services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof: 35 years.

- Upper age limit for blind, deaf-mute and orthopedically handicapped persons (general category):42 years.
Apart from the mentioned limits, OBC/ SC/ ST applicants will
obtain the benefit of cumulative age relaxation. This means age relaxations
gets added in special cases, say for example, if the person is OBC + Ex-service
men, he will get an extension of 5 + 7 = 12 years, i.e.
his upper age limit now stands at 42 years.
NDA (National Defence Academy)
Educational
qualification: For Indian Army, job
grabbers must have done their 12th examinations in any stream. For Indian Air
Force & Indian Navy the candidates must have qualified 12th with Phyisics
& Mathematics.
Age limit:
Minimum: 16

Nationality: Job appliers should be an Indian national.

CDSE (Combined Defence Services Examination)
Educational
criteria: Applying applicants must have
passed degree for Indian Military Academy/ Officers’ Training Academy from a
recognized university or equivalent.
Applicants
must have B.Sc with Physics & Mathematics or a Bachelor of Eng. for Naval
Academy.
Job grabbers
must have a degree with Physics & Mathematics from a recognized university
at 12th standard or Bachelor of eng., bachelor of technology for Air Force
Academy.
Age limit: Applicants age should have minimum 19 years & maximum 24
years for Indian Military Academy.
For .Air
Force Academy, applicants must not be below 19 years & 23 years.
For naval
Academy, candidate’s age should not be below 19 to 22 years.
For
Officers’ Training Academy, applicants should not be less than 19 years &
not less than 25 years (not before 2nd June as on examination year).

Civil Services Examination
Educational
qualification: Jobs seekers should have a Bachelor’s degree from any discipline
from a recognized university. Appearing candidates of final year are also

ESE (Engineering Services Examination)

qualification: Applicants should have
qualified graduate in eng. (B.E./ B.Tech) from a recognized university or
equivalent. M.Sc degree or equivalent degree.
Age limit:
- Minimum: 21 years
- Maximum: 30 years as on 1st August of the examination year.
- The relaxation in upper age limit is 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
Attempts: The General candidates can attempt for 4 times, OBC can do for 7
times and for SC/ST there is no limit.
Nationality: The candidates have to be an Indian national.
